A gorgeous vintage set of earrings by Hobe in the Austro-Hungarian style with large dark set cabochon glass saw tooth set stones and red enameled details. The each one has wired in glass seed pearls around the edge. Hobe was known for making high end costume jewelry of quality materials. In France the Hobe family made fine jewelry of precious stones and metals, after moving to America they used their fine jewelry making skills and designs for custom costume jewelry, so we always find the best pieces from them, especially earlier pieces like these earrings.
These earrings were made in the early 1950s with rolling plastic pieces around the clips for comfort. This line of jewelry was made to imitate the regal jewels of the court and are some of my favorite of their designs. Each earrings measures a little over an 1" in diameter across. They are in good vintage condition with just some typical wear on the filigree back metal as expected from something of this age.
Please view photos for details and measurements. American in origin of a French maker, circa 1950.
