Here is a very early Simon and Halbig bebe with a bisque shoulder plate head, set blue-green glass eyes set onto an early kid body with bisque forearms and hands. She is only marked on the very bottom front of the bisque S 6 H, for Simon and Halbig, the number 6 would be for her size. I have found that the earliest dolls did not include the mold number on the back as expected, and this is the case with this bebe, but her face is without any doubt the rare 905 model. Her head has been lighted and the bebe is in very good antique condition without any cracks, chips or repairs and there is no leakage to her body. She has the sweetest face with a little closed mouth smile, rosy cheeks and tiny feather brows (not molded). Her lower bisque arms too are without chips. She has passed all tests and has had a sponge bath, as well I have hand cleaned all of her clothing and wig. So she is clean and without any odor but as it happens with many earlier dolls, there is some discoloration to the kid. She displays beautifully wearing a semi-sheer, antique floral print dress trimmed in lace. Under it she has on white cotton under shirt, half-slip and pantaloons. Old pink knit socks and tiny brown lace up shoes. Under her bonnet trimmed in feathers and millinery, she wears a French human hair ringlet wig that compliments her shading nicely. She measures approximately ___________. Simon and Halbig did not officially start their business until 1880. I bought this doll from a collector who got her from the original family in Germany, and they dated her to 1875.
