She has the sweetest expression with incredible big blue glass haunting eyes. This artist doll is a very convincing representation of the rare French bebe by Jumeau known as the Triste, or sad face doll. Her pale bisque is a nice contrast to her blue paperweight eyes that have been set, brown feathers brows and painted lashes with a touch of purple shadow on the lids. The artist painted her with pale lips on her open/close mouth, rosy cheeks and she has applied ears (with holes for earrings) just like the antique. Her bisque is in fine condition without any cracks, chips or repairs.
This was a specialty made one of a kind artist doll and not mass produced. She is on a heavy articulating body with straight wrists and is well strung. She is wearing an antique doll dress of light blue tissue silk with ruched bodice that continues to the lower waist. The dress was sewn onto a solid vintage pink dress for stability. It has sweet silk puffy sleeves with lace and ribbon and a matching silk and lace ribbon with bows on the front.
The antique silk with netting bonnet is a nice compliment to her dress, both are antique and show a little wear from age but display beautifully on her and make her look more like the original French bebe, in my opinion. She has a nice ringlet wig that is perfect for her coloring. The all of her displays beautifully. Everything has been hand washed so she is clean and ready for play or display.
