This is a quite large Maki Persimmon print This is Work 74-67 Haku Maki did prints with Persimmon as a main theme from the early 1970s for well over a decade. This is a fairly large image: it shows one persimmon growing out from the tree, with leaves coming off the branch. This striking white enamel pot is in the chrysanthemum style. Condition is very good but this pot has been used. Inside the remains of many boilings are seen. No one has cleaned them out. We would not. This comes from a long un-touched collection of Yixing ware, a modest Cup of Light cache. No cracks, no fractures, no repairs. Base has dark spot from production, nothing new From inside one can see tea residue or many years. This pot has not been used for maybe 50 years.

the mark in the base is of Yixing. The calligraphy on the pot is by Shao Shan a late 19th Century scholar. His inscription can be translated as Pure and Noble character. We date this pot to the early Republic Period. It is clean attractive, like a bee hive. There is one bangle on the lid. The pot is clean and attractive. Early Republican period. Height is 12.5 Width at the mouth is 7.4 cm and 12..5 from end of spout to beginning of handle.

This firm strong pot is well designed and carved. It has nice calligraphy and a good mark in the base, telling us it was made in Yixing The seal of the maker, Meng Chen is deeply incised in the inside of the cover. Probably made around 1900. Originally for commercial use. We have been asked to report on the inside: it is clean but not cleaned up. No cracks or hidden hairline fractures. Very good condition.
