this toggle is over 7 cm tall and length and 2.5 wide cm great patina a modest crack due to age. the horse is probably from ferghana in xinjiang and the saddle must have been made in the Northwest too. rare piece just came into beijing this week.

A tree trunk was hollowed out many years ago, cleaned away and this pot emerged. It has been around for some 200 years it is firm tall and can hold many good sized scrolls. This dramatic wood carving – part natural and part enhanced by Man we can see rolling clouds as the central image. These are seen equally well at front and back. The patina is strong through tough out may depict rolling clouds as seen in a ruyi or perhaps a world cup prize. in days of yore naturally had the lines seen here but then a Qing dynasty craftsman deftly carved the clouds out of the wood I imagine, we have added a base.
