This is a single wine warmer cup. "One for the Road". The cover and base fit, the small inner cup also has glaze. This item is from an old Hong Kong Collection; I acquired it many years ago. Today, finding all 3 pieces in old sets: virtually impossible, even in a single ensemble. The wine warmer is used thusly: a bottle of already heated rice wine is brought to the table; its contents are poured into a large wine warmer pot OR directly into the little porcelain cup shown here. The larger container is filled with hot water. After the wine has been poured into the little cup, the contents of the small cup are kept warm in the individual wine warmer, which has already been filled with hot water. Made in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China in Jiangxi province. The cover has several renditions of the character Fu for Good Fortune. In Gold paint. Great condition. early 20th Century.
