a miniature votive sarcophage,probably from the roman period ,l30 BC-323 AD. A votive or canopic sarcophagus in Romano-Egyptian style, formed as a ceramic matrix with anthropomorphic features and embedded objects visible on the upper surface: a small bronze bangle above the head; a series of red, blue and green glass discs within the bangle; a plano-convex blue glass disc at the hip; a red stone triangle on the chest; a star-shaped item, perhaps a bead, at the knees; creamware surface;roman style anthromorphic features characters at the underside and traces 36 cm . Ex Steinberg collection; bought from a London gallery in the early 1990's. Accompanied by an explanatory statement describing the origin, source and form of the piece, together with X-ray images (from Ipswich Museum, ) which showed a resinous package positioned internally
