After Mao authorized the Big Character Poster (dazibao) as a form of criticizing the government and the Red Guards as the main force for pushing the campaign forward, Cultural Revolution gained its momentum. But it was obvious, as it turns out out, that Red Guards’ infighting was getting more and more brutal. Harsh languages were exchanged, and the accusations of not enough Mao worshipping between the two factions (the original revolutionary vs. the rebellion) became more direct and the language were more violent. In this poster, it says “Whoever is anti Chairman Mao (we) will break his dog head”. Note “dog head” is in reference someone’s actual head and not someone’s dog’s head. This poster, according to the small imprints, was created by the Country’s Artist Comrades’ Revolutionary Rebellion Liaison Station in May 1968. 31” x 21.5”
