The Bobino Theatre at 20 rue de la Gaite in Paris, France, is a music hall theater that has seen most of the biggest names of the 20th century French music perform there. Josephine Baker, born Freda Josephine McDonald (1906-1975) was a French dancer, jazz and pop music singer and actress, who because of racism, denounced her U.S. citizenship and became a citizen of France. On April 8, 1975, Josephine Baker starred in a retrospective revue celebrating her 50 years in show business. Four days later, she was found lying peacefully in her bed surrounded by newspapers with glowing reviews of her performance. The Bobino poster offered for sale is for this very last performance. The poster is linen backed, measures 31" x 47" and is in excellent condition. There is a slight wave in the paper toward the lower right corner.
