Antique Chinese Silk Embroidery SKIRT Butterfly Wrap Court Textile 19th Century
This is an antique Chinese Textile Art piece. Similar skirts were worn in the Manchu Court. This 19th century wrap around black silk skirt has mainly deep bright blue embroidery, with colourful butterflies which are symbols for love and affection. It has two main panels, one for front and back. It has a linen band on the top. It is in fragile condition, it has one spot mended, and some weak tear spots, which I have photographed. This is a study collectors or decorative piece not for wearing. The embroidery is in good condition, the black silk is crisp, but fragile because of age. The linen band does not show up in all the photos, because of the white background, please check later photos, the linen band measures 7 inches wide.
It measures 44 inches cross the top, and 55 inches across the bottom, and 53 inches long.
