Rare and extremely fine pair of Incan sheet silver and gold ceremonial deer cups . The hooves ears tails and antlers on the male are in nearly 17k gold . The female is made of 20 different pieces of sheet silver and gold soldered together and the male even more pieces. This set is believed to have been made by Chimu artisans for the new Inca rulers, from what experts have said this is the only known pair of this quality in silver. The buck has most of His original burial patina as does some areas of the female. This lot has been xrf tested for metal purity. Body 95% silver 5 % copper the gold ear 60 % gold 36% silver 3% copper.
This lot is from an old Texas collection 1960s and was purchased 1990s and comes with the pictured scientific authentication report as well as a copy of a hand written statement from the former collector.
