Antique Chinese pottery figure of a frog. Glazed a rich green color with nice drips and crackle. Sitting on a rectangular slab with face turned upward. Frogs have long been symbols of good fortune and prosperity.

Age: Republic Period (1912-1949)

Chinese rose canton candle stick with scenes of court and birds with flowers, 19th century. From the Fawcett collection. It measures 8.5" tall, 2.25" wide at top, 4.5" wide at base.

Chinese bowl or dish in a famille rose style, with a light blue base and interior rim, yellow ground with flecks of red and green in a floral pattern, and a large design of a butterfly with blue, pink, purple, and green colors. Antique Chinese jadeite carving of two identical furry critters, possibly foxes, curled together in a yin yang fashion. The jadeite has parts that are a glowing lavender with muted green areas. The carving is pierced through and may be worn as a pendant. Size: 2" width, .75" thickness

Antique Japanese wrought iron lantern with lattice work panels. The lantern would have been placed in a temple with a candle that would have been lit. It is supported by four feet. It measures 9" x 9" x 12" tall. Meiji period: 1868-1912.

An antique Japanese Chobako (merchant box) made of thick Hinoki (Cypress) and thick Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Straight dovetail joinery with hardened wooden nail construction. Original bronze and iron hardware. Two different sized coin slots at the top of the box. Includes a working key.

Antique Chinese carved Peking glass snuff bottle in a gorgeous pink color, carved with lotus leaf on one side and dragon fly with lotus pod on the other, very top area under stopper is also carved to look like a lotus pod, stopper made of rose quartz with brass, original brass spoon, Republic Period. Size: 2 5/8" high

Chinese low rectangular table, made of jumu (elm) wood with beautiful dramatic grain, inset with large rectangular piece of dark gray slate carved with design of scholar objects and archaic motifs, stone is protected by glass which is also inset into the table. Size: 19" high x 46 1/4" wide x 30 3/4" deep. (size of table top: 45 3/4" wide x 30" deep.)

Japanese lacquered tray with the view of Tagonoura and Mt. Fuji with various Japanese motifs surrounding the image. Taka makie is used to create the effect on Mt. Fuji and hira makie is used to paint the motifs surrounding the landscape. On the bottom is the name of the studio: Sato. Age: Late 19th to early 20th century. A letter open done in mixed metal with motif of cranes, chrysanthemums, magnolia-like flowers, and other flowering plants. The letter opener contains a signature that is difficult to read. Age: Meiji Period. Size: Length 13" Width 1.5"

A small Korean three drawer chest with brass fittings on the corners of the chest. The chest was originally from Roger Barber Imports. Age: 19th century, Chosun Dynasty. Size: Length 12.25" Width 9.75" Height 10.75"

Republic period, circa 1950, carved jade miniature of a sage pinching it's ear lobe. The jade stone is shaped like a pebble. There are two medallions on the top of the shoulders of the stone. It measures 1.5" by 1.5" by .6".

Antique painting of a scene from one of the poems in the Kokin Wakashu or "Collection of Japanese Poems of Ancient and Modern Times", dated from the Heian period (794-1185 AD). It was invented and published by Emperor Uda and his son, Emperor Daigo in the year 905, and was compiled by four of their court poets: Ki no Tsurayuki, Ki no Tomonori, Oshikochi Mitsune, and Mibu no Tadamine. This scene is likely taken from a poem by Tsurayuki in which the narrator laments over his loneliness and compare...

Beautiful antique painting of Hotei (also known as Budi or the Laughing Buddha), possibly depicted in his Dharmalaya body. He is shown sitting comfortably on a wooden bridge as men and women in gold straw hats walk by. Hotei is one of the Seven Lucky Gods in Japanese culture and is revered for his happiness and the luck that he brings. Set in glass and framed, 17th/18th century.
