A wonderful contemporary furniture piece in a Chinese altar table style, made by a highly regarded local craftsman. The underside has the RE Studio brand mark to show it is a special, original made piece. Made of black walnut with smooth natural finish, with special decorative elements such as lighter "ash" hardwood "keys", and "butterflies" on the inner leg to hold the natural fissures of the wood. Skillfully made with mortis and tenon joinery.

A large pair of Chinese ceramic fu dogs with a Sancai ware "three colors" palette in green, brown, and blue with natural clay white in a transparent crackle glaze. The large pair of fu dogs stand opposite each other, eyes faced forward, their mouths slightly open in a snarling grin. The front right foot of the male fu dog rests upon a rounded "xi qui" floral ball, representing rule and supremacy over the world. Beautiful porcelain kutani beauty, geisha in training. She reads a poem, possibly a love poem. She wears a robe that is tied in front, miko, indicative that she is not yet a geisha. The outer robe is blue decorated with white, red, green, and gold colors. She measures 13.5" tall. Meiji Period (c1900).

Beautifully carved transparent glass snuff bottle with prism shaped edges, a topper made of carved turquoise in an oriental design, and a carved scoop to resemble bamboo. 19th century Size: 2.75" tall, 1.12" wide

Antique Chinese celadon ware vase or jar with a round, stout body, short neck with two hollow handles, raised lotus petal motif along the bottom. Slightly raised lotuses and sunflowers decorate around the upper body. Longquan celadons were an important part of China's export economy for over five-hundred years (960 - 1644). Japanese okimono boxwood carving of Ashinaga and Tenaga. Old Japanese folklore tells that Tenaga (with his very long arms) would climb onto the back of Ashinaga (with his very long legs) and would work to catch fish together. Dates from Taisho Period c1920.

Rare amber Buddhist mala or prayer beads, with 18 large beads for keeping count when reciting a mantra. Each large bead and spacer is carved from old amber tree resin with marbled color of black, red, and yellow. The strand has a tassel on its end.

Antique Japanese bajo jingasa, lacquered military hat for a horseman. Decorated with textured brown lacquer and with the Kyogoku family mon in gold. The underside is lacquered red with a black circle in the center and four hooks for chords.

This antique Japanese merchant chest (Choba Tansu) is a rare and exquisite piece of Japanese history. It was crafted using Paulownia (Kiri) and Cryptomeria (Sugi) woods. The chest features all original hand-forged iron fittings and hardened wood nail construction. Features 6 drawers and a lift-out door behind which business books and records were stored. The chest is in excellent condition especially considering its very long history.

Japanese hand-forged iron tsuba, used to protect a swordsman's hand from sliding up the blade during use as well as to provide balance. The openwork tsuba depicting two sages, their robes accented in gilt, one sage with a face of silver and the other with a face of copper. The front image is signed 'Soheishi Nyudo Soten' , the other side reads 'Goshu Hikone ju' (resides in Goshu-current Shiga prefecture).

Beautiful Japanese light colored gold guilt lacquered case with fans. There are six fans with cranes, landscape scenes, and fruit. Original brass hardware has a lovely scrolling design. The interior has two drawers below one compartment with latticed sliding doors. Mid - Meiji Period (1868 - 1912). It measures 14.5" tall by 16.5" wide by 9.5" deep.
