Exquisite Antique Japanese pair of large garden lanterns. Each is made of cast iron in 10 sections. The roof of each has raised writing, the lantern portions are decorated with kiri blossoms. The pedestals are coiled around with dragons in low relief, the base of each has high relief fu-dogs. Very difficult to collect. An exquisite Japanese pillow, the body woven with red pigment lacquer, the ends lacquered in black with gilt lacquer. One end depicts the mythical creature Baku, said to devour bad dreams. The other end is a floral scene with beautiful nashiji gold flakes.

A hirado ware porcelain figure of the mythical creature baku, the dream eater. This beast is a chimera with the features of an elephant, an ox, a rhinoceros and a tiger. The expert artist hand-carved every detail of the figure with fine lines, the flames and spines along its back carved in high relief. The glaring eyes are left bare with black pupils while the rest of its body is glazed white.

Chinese hardstone lidded vase carved with scrolling dragon head handles and freely moving rings. The lid has a pointed finial with natural black pebble coloration. The foot of the container is slightly flared and recessed. The natural pink and grey tones of the stone give the appearance of heavenly clouds, which are traditional motifs associated with dragons.

A Japanese bronze ritual brazier from the Muromachi period. It has an even tonal verdigris patina throughout the object. The scalloped edge lip is decorated with alternating Ruyi cutouts and continuous curved lines.

Unusual Japanese single section isho tansu from the Sendai region, made of solid Keyaki (zelkova) hardwood with burl front panels. The iron hardware and mounts have floral motifs throughout. The corner plates have scalloped edges, the drawer pulls are mokko (melon) shaped with chrysanthemums mounts, the round lock plates are incised with Kiri leaf mon and two are outlined with scrolling vine motifs. A pair of Chinese antique monochrome Clair de Lune glaze porcelain vases set on a decorative hardwood stands. A small gold leaf repair is done to the lip of the vases in the Kintsugi style. The vases are a pale blue with tall rounded shoulders and the unglazed bases and recessed footing with Kangxi inscription.

A large Japanese framed print by renown artist Mayumi Oda, born 1941. Mayumi is most well known for her depictions of male Buddhist deities presented as women. Antique Chinese brush rest made of black glazed porcelain in the form of a lingbi scholar rock. Sculpted and drilled with holes and windows like a miniature version of the prized lingbi stone. An antique Japanese bronze okimono statue of a Japanese Ama or pearl diver walking to her boat in the wind. The artist conveyed the wind intensity by the way that her headscarf has unraveled as she keeps it atop her head. Her feet nearly reach the water embankment as she readies herself for the work ahead. The artist, Kyoi Masatsune - 京井政常,signed his name with a hallmark near her feet.

An expressive frightful yet humorous yamaneko cat (tiger) perched on a natural jagged boulder. Hand carved of boxwood with eye detailed in bone. Very well carved with fine details. An Okimono may be a small Japanese carving, similar to, but larger than netsuke. Unlike netsuke, which had a specific purpose, Okimono were purely decorative and were displayed in the tokonoma.

Antique Japanese ishidoro - stone temple garden lantern, carved all of granite in 6 sections. The lotus base is carved so that it is still connected to the natural rock. Beautiful naturally aged patina consistent with early age. Hand made pigments are clearly seen. Painted over a leather hide that was shipped and molded over the hardwood solid construction.
