The Chinese would scoop the insides clean and use the hard outer shell as a bottle for medicines, wine, and elixirs. The vines of a bottle-gourd are pronounced as "man" or "wan", which also means "10,000" in Chinese. Because the plant has many seeds, it was symbolic for fertility (10,000 seeds/children). Beautiful agate carved into a flower basket, extremely detailed. The basket has a handle with removable string attached. The basket itself has almost a flower pot shape to it, with a maze-like design carved around its sides. The top of the basket has a beautiful flower carved on either side with vines and leaves and has a round opening in the center. 19th century

Snuff bottle made of beautiful white Peking Glass. This bottle has carvings on both sides of a face, most likely a protective deity. The bottle stopper is carved green agate in the shape of a ram-like creature with a single curved horn, its entire body coiled around itself. Antique Japanese Noh mask of the O-beshimi fierce deity, or mythical tengu. "Beshimi" means "mouth clamped shut". This mask is hand-carved from kiri wood, and inside you can see the chisel marks left behind by the artist. There are visible traces of white gesso in the crevices of the face, which was used as a filler to cover the wood grain. Edo period, 19th century

Antique Tibetan kapala, or human skullcup, with a beautiful bronze stand. In Tibet, it was considered a great honor to have one's cranium turned into a kapala, which would be used for religious purposes. Kapalas are used in the Hindu Tantra and Buddhist religions.
