Beautiful interwoven design of narrow and young bamboo with a. mature thick spit bamboo on each side angled as if it is pointing towards the sky and the moon. Use of mature and young bamboo representing the circle of life. Depicting a timeless Japanese cultural pastime of the autumn moon viewing. Low relief foot with a 3 slat star bottom. Unsigned.

Antique Tibetan tall bronze butter lamp for a Buddhist altar. Traditionally, the butter lamp would burn ghee. The light of the flame of the butter lamp represents the "wisdom of the awakened mind" and helps to "dispel the darkness of delusion". Most Tibetan household and temple altar displays include a butter lamp. This tall lamp resembles a multi tiered lotus blossom with decorative granulation on the edges. Beautiful patina from age and use.

Antique Thai cast bronze figure of Garuda crouched on his haunches, with wings open wide. Garuda is the faithful friend and vahana (vehicle) of Vishnu. He is depicted here in anthropomorphic form, with human body but with wings, beak and and legs of an eagle-like sun bird. Garuda is the personification of courage and the enemy of naga, the serpent.

Antique Nepalese bronze melong, "Mirror of Emptiness". Melong are placed on altars to reflect right thoughts. This melong has a polished center surrounded by flames. It stands on a lotus base. It is the same on either side. A soft rattling sound from within the convex portion of the mirror reveals that it has been consecrated, meaning a prayer has been placed inside.

Antique Indian carving of Vishnu and Lakshmi. Vishnu is identified by his tall crown and club. His wife, Lakshmi is seated on his left knee. Carved of a hard black/green stone. Antique Sri Lankan ceramic figure of seated Hanuman, the Hindu god in monkey form, hero of the Ramayana and devoted friend to Rama. Seated with one knee raised and hands together in prayer, Hanuman's face is full of compassion. His tall crown denotes his status. Traces of green and white pigments remain.

Antique Japanese netsuke in the form of a fudog. Carved of boxwood, the fudog leans on a ball. With eyes wide and mouth open, his mane flows down his back. He curls his body around the ball, gripping it in three paws while balancing on his back leg. Age and use have added an appealing smooth quality of the netsuke.

Antique Chinese gilt copper repoussé box with hinged lid. Decorated all over with finely detailed designs of birds in blossoming branches. A phoenix adorns the front and back of the box and white jade carved in the form of three fruits (probably peaches) decorates the lid.

Antique Chinese pair of large joss stick incense holders. Made of porcelain in bell form. Decorated with painted designs of dragons, lingzhi and scrolling vines in red-orange overglaze standing out against a dramatic black ground. Each joss holder has four large dragon medallions, two on the top portion and two on the bottom. Around them is painted a variety of scrolling foliage. The interior rim of the upper portion is painted with a pattern of lingzhi mushrooms.
