Antique Japanese scroll painting depicting a view of lush garden flowers. Large yellow and red poinsettia and cockscomb grow beside a bamboo fence. Painted in mineral colors on silk. Signed by 祥雲 Shо̄un ("Auspicious Cloud"). A label identifies the artist as as Nonouchi Yasutarо̄ (Nonouchi is the family name), who used the artist name Shо̄un until 1932. After that he used his original given name Yasutarо̄, but this one has the Shо̄un seal, so it should be from 1932 or earlier.)...

Rare antique Indonesian textile that is a jataka of tales of Rama with forty-nine painted scenes with script on top of scenes, wondrous scenes of monstrous sea creatures and key scenes of life of Rama are depicted in charming traditionally painted scenes outlined in wood-like columns with black with blues, reds, khaki greens, on beige background. Made of fine cotton on stretched frame.

Antique Japanese scroll painting depicting a dead man being whisked away in a flaming carriage bound for hell. He is escorted by three demons brandishing weapons and pulling the cart through clouds of smoke. A section of the poem translates as "whether old or young, rich or poor [...] on the fiery carriage..." Japanese scroll painting of skeletons, one dancing and one playing a shamisen. Strewn over the ground are skulls and a giant gourd filled with drink. The calligraphy on the top of the scroll states that even the great sage Boddhidaruma and the beautiful Onna no Komachi are Doitsu Byodo (the same as the rest of us) when their flesh is stripped away. A pair of mounted panels painted with battle scenes from the Tales of Heike. One panel appears to take place during the battle at Dan no Ura. This painting of samurai contains the signature crest of the Heiki clan (the butterfly). The other panel is a portrait of the famous monk warrior, Benke, on horseback in the Shichi-henge form (where he carries many weapons).

Japanese Edo Period scroll painting of a yamabushi, a mountain ascetic hermit or holy man. Often believed to be endowed with supernatural powers, the yamabusi follow the Shugendo doctrine, a religion that places heavy emphasis on feats of endurance. Throughout history, they have participated in battles along side samurai. In this painting, the warrior/sage is leaning on a walking stick. He is dressed only in leaves and animal skins. 19th Yi dynasty Korean Buddha painting with 16 deities. The Korean Buddhist painting represents the portrayal of buddha giving a sermon on the Lotus Sutra on Youngchuksan mountain. The buddha is centrally positioned and directed as a larger figure amongst the many budasatvasf and lesser gods.

Antique Chinese framed painting of the mythological figure Zhong Kui, commander of 80,000 demons, vanquisher of evil spirits, and guardian of households. He appears to be controlling an unhappy looking green demon with a turtle shell, sometimes called Shui Gui. Two small bats fly just next to the calligraphy on the lefthand side, with red chop by the artist.
