Chinese hand scroll portraying a hunting scene attributed to, Jin Tingbiao (~1767). Four hunters with four horses are gathered in this scene either preparing a hunting party or finishing one. Views of hunting, known as shoulie wenwutu were first seen from the Yuan dynasty and succeeding dynasties continued to paint various renditions. Comes in a beautifully carved box. Beautiful black birds perched over a chrysanthemum bush. There is an inscription in the upper left corner and a cartouche. Sumi and light colors on silk. Mid Ching dynasty (1644-1911), circa 1800. It measures 12" wide 32" long, overall 16" wide by 55.5" long.
