Chinese serigraph print on rice paper by artist Hon Chew Hee (1906-1993) titled "Junkboat Musicians". Hee was a Hawaiian born artist who went to China at the age of 14 to study Chinese brush painting. Titled and signed in pencil at the bottom, #24/26. It is set behind a glass frame. Large Chinese jade (nephrite) ceremonial piece, in the style of the Liangzhu period (3400-2250 BC), with carvings of faces. This nephrite piece is solid and has a pointed tip, and dpierced hole through its very top. The carvings around its edges look like eyes and may be related to the taotie (roughly "gluttonous ogre mask") motif, which were essentially symmetrical zoomorphic faces with no lower jaw, thought by scholars to be linked to religious ceremony and the afterlife...

Etching by Japanese artist Mayumi Oda (1941-present) titled "Merlin", depicting a stretching black cat amidst a bed of flowers. Mayumi is known as the 'Matisse of Japan'. She was strongly influenced by French Impressionism, which in turn was inspired by Japanese ukiyo-e, thus she deemed the full cycle of "Japonisme". Wonderfully detailed shell open container, carved and pierced all around with twisting vines and branches bearing fruit, with carved rodent-like creatures that move loosely within the vegetation. There are areas of white in the creatures' eyes and the veins of the leaves. early 20th century Size: 2" height, 2.5" width

Small jade snuff bottle with pierced handles and a pierced orange jade stopper so as to be worn as a pendant. It has small carvings on either side below its handles and small areas of orange. Size: 1.5" height, .75" width

An antique Chinese Lingbi stone (scholar's rock or spirit stone) has a very distinct ring when it is struck. Scholar's rocks are appreciated for their unusual shapes, asymmetry, color and texture. Scholars refer to them as "bones of the earth". It is a carved blackish stone overhang with perforations. It set upon a contemporary Shuozhou style carved rosewood base with 4 rounded feet.

Chinese painting using a calming combination of colors in soft black and grey, pink, and light blue. Two small birds resembling chickadees gaze upwards at pink morning glories with large, black leaves and dangling vines. A tiny red ladybug crawls along one of the flower stems. Signed by the artist. Green jadeite ring with areas of beautiful deep green, set in an 18K yellow gold ring with incised lines that come to a triangular point. The inside of the band is inscribed with Chinese markings that have been partially worn away from use. 20th century Size: 2.25" length of entire ring, jadeite stone approx. .75" height, .5" width

Chinese blanc de chine porcelain statue of Quan Yin, the Buddhist bodhisattva associated with compassion. Her name is short for Guanshiyin, meaning "Observing the Cries of the World." She is seated upon a large wooden seat and wears a gorgeous cascading robe with strands of beads adorning her torso and legs. In her right hand she holds the branch of a willow tree. She is extremely detailed and beautiful. Dates from 19th century. Size: 10" hwight, 3" width

Gorgeous scenic painting by Chinese artist Tsui Chian Tsai of a small town amidst a beautiful mountainous landscape, with a murky, grey sky and delicate white speckles of paint to represent the falling snow. Two large boats are returning to shore, covered in snow from their long trip. Very detailed work with a lot of realism, the artist truly captured the feeling of an extremely cold climate. Dated 1990, stamped and signed. Size: 26" height, 17.25" width

Painting by Chinese artist Ching Xiangko of five cute, swimming shrimp. There are subtle variations of color and depth in each shrimp, showing the artist had great control over the ink distribution. Signed and stamped, dated between 1960-1970. Size: 27" height, 18" width

Two Chinese fu dogs (shi/lions) carved from marble, each one seated upon a small pedestal, their mouths partially open with a carved ball inside. Storage box included, with insert titled "The Story of Fine Taiwan Marble". Beautiful calligraphy box made from precious Chinese zitan wood, with carved compartments for an inkstone and water dropper. Kanji markings on bottom of dropper, aged piece of wood also with kanji marks is included in this set. The inkwell still has old ink remnants. Gorgeous woodgrain with a lovely shine. Beautiful women's vintage silk cheongsam (or qipao) dress with gold trim and satin borders. It has water droplet shaped fasteners with gold swirls within, mandarin collar, and slits on either side. The first style of qipao emerged in the Qing Dynasty when the Manchu social group called the Banners came to be. All Han Chinese under the banner were forced to dress in qipao instead of traditional Han dress...
