An interesting mounted panel of an uchiwa (hand fan) fragment depicting a scene from the Tales of Heike possibly from the section the battle at Dan no Ura. The painting contains the signature crest of the Heike clan ( the butterfly). The surrounding paper is utilizing gold and silver leaf kirigane (cut-gold and silver leaf) to create the pattern. The painting contains elements that are similar with works done during the time of Tosa Mitsuoki (1617-1691). Age: Edo Period (1600-1868) Size: Height: 33.5" Length: 17.75" Width: 1"
