Absolutely Incredible large lacquered wood Japanese buddhist shrine. Four main pillars decorated with highly detailed metal work to support the high temple style roof with many cross beams. Ornately hand carved with fine intricate details including large fish on roof with waves and dragons. Curved eaves with carvings of kirin, fu-dogs and dragons, swirling clouds and chrysanthemums. The base of the shrine is carved with swirling water and ducks, many pieces all lacquered in gold, Early Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) On wooden stand.
