Antique Japanese two-section mizuya (kitchen tansu) made of sugi (cryptomeria) wood with kuri (chestnut) wood drawer panels. The top section has sliding panels with vertical slats and kuri wood detail panel opening to a large compartment with one shelf. Below this is a horizontal row of four small drawers with warabite shaped handles. The bottom section has two large sliding panels with horizontal slats opening to a large compartment with one shelf. A nice detail on the sliders is that they have persimmon wood handles. Meiji Period (1868-1912).
