Antique Japanese two-section isho tansu (clothing chest). Made with keyaki (elm) wood on the front and sugi (cryptomeria) wood body. Iron hardware including warabite shaped drawer pulls and round lock plates. The top portion has a large compartment with sliding panels next to a compartment with a drop in panel door. The top portion of the chest also has 5 small drawers of various sizes. The bottom portion of the chest has 5 large drawers and 5 very small drawers of various sizes. Meiji Period (1868-1912). Size: 62" high x 43" wide x 16 1/2" deep.
