A sturdy little earthenware salt, French, c 1760-80. Octagonal and decorated with a diaper pattern and cornflowers in a rustic variation of the Louis XVI style. Width "3/ 7.5 cm, height "1 ½ / 3.5 cm. Condition: a small area rough and unglazed, a mishap caused during fabrication (cf. pic 2).

Eggshell thin cup and saucer of lobed and fluted shape, ivory matt glaze to the exterior, twig handle and raised gilt leaf decoration. French, unsigned, around 1890, the design with a touch of Japonisme. Height of cup "2/ 5.3 cm, diameter of saucer "4 / 10.2 cm. Condition: fine.

This demitasse cup, saucer and dessert plate was produced in France by Haviland Limoges before 1900. The plate has a diameter of 7 1/2 inches, the saucer is 4 5/8 inches in diameter and the cup is 2 inches high. The plate and saucer are scalloped with a ripple molded into the border. The basket measures 9 1/4 inches long, 4 3/4 inches wide and 4 inches high including the handle. The rim of the basket is frilly and scalloped with high relief molding as does the handle. This porcelain pot de crème with lid was produced by an unknown Paris porcelain manufacturer before 1850. It is 4 1/4 inches high with the lid. The porcelain is molded with panels and ornaments and a perky little finial on the lid. It has a pedestal base and a fancy handle. The piece is hand painted with pink and blue enamel florals. It is trimmed in blue. CONDITION: Excellent

A hard paste porcelain shallow bowl commonly used for salad with a dentil gilt rim and hand painted with bouquets and sprays of flowers. The simplicity of the painting is not an indication of poor work, there was at times a fashion for simple looking things; think of Marie Antoinette at her dairy at Versailles. This bowl is from the same period. 8 1/4 inch (21 cm) diameter.

La Rochelle fayence plate from the late 18th century. Charmingly naïve decoration of a pheasant in a landscape, the border with a twig of pears (?). The back with spur marks near the rim, a sign of age. Diameter: "9 ¾/ 24.5 cm. Condition: fine, with decorative crackling of the glaze and some burst bubbles caused in firing.

An 18th century faience desk set or inkwell for a lady, decoration of flower sprigs, mainly Forget me nots. French, possibly Rouen around 1780, Width "6 ¼ / 15.8 cm and height " / 5.7 cm. The base with four little feet and mark W in black, maybe for William Sturgeon who owned one of the Rouen factories from 1776. Condition: later restorations having been removed, now left with cracks and hairlines (cf. pics) but still charming.

A small jug, an 18th century model skillfully copied after a cruet set from the faïencerie of Veuve Perrin in Marseilles (1760 – 1803). To one side a gentle couple harvesting - a mock rural scenery - and to the other floral decoration, all in 18th century Rococo style. Diameter 9 ½ inches (24 cm). The mark in underglaze blue on the back is the crossed torches of Locre, sometimes called La Courtille. The factory was active from 1773 to 1824...

A lobed dinner plate 9 ½ inches (24 cm) diameter decorated with a sprig of cornflowers (?) in the center of the well surrounded with numerous single red or gilt flowers. The lip is decorated with richly gilt and enamel swags surrounding floral cartouches. The rubbed overglaze “VV” on the back is the mark for the Verneuilh factory. It dates from the 1780’s; possibly 1787 when Vanier entered a contract with the Verneuilhs.

A porcelain plate decorated with floral sprigs and bouquets with a shaped rim decorated with gilt dentil edge marked on the underside with a “B” in underglaze blue. 9 inch (23 cm) diameter. This short lived porcelain factory, roughly 1776-1781, had the Duc d’Orleans (cousin of the King Louis XVI) as its patron.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Some wear to the gilding and a little stacking wear.

A Thistle Pattern Tray with a Gilt Border; Limoges, 19th century. dimensions 12" long x 5" wide.

A porcelain dinner plate decorated with a gilt rim, a gilt rope with flowers on the lip and floral sprays in the well. Marked in overglaze red enamel on the back “B/Potter/1” The mark is probably from around 1794 for the short lived partnership of Potter and Blancheron.

Condition: Two hairlines and some stacking wear

A lobed dinner plate with a gilt rim, a gilt circle entwined with floral ropes on the lip and a worn monogram enclosed by a blue circle wrapped with a gilt wreath in the well. Diameter 9 1/8 inches (23 cm). Marked in underglaze blue on the back with the Seguin factory mark. The factory was active in Vincennes from roughly 1779 to 1788.

Condition: Enough wear to the enamel painting in the well to be distracting. There are internal and rim hairlines.

French eggshell thin Porcelain hand painted Lady and Gentleman in Evening Dancing clothes, decorated on pure white Porcelain body Demitasse Cup & Saucer, Ca. 1920, 5 1/8" diameter and 7/8" high-saucer, 2 1/2" high and 3 1/4"wide with handle-cup, delicate twisted handle with little touch of gold, top rim have been touched up and gold rim is somewhat rubbed off in some area.

French Napoleon Portrait Porcelain Cup and saucer, Ca. 1920, 2 3/8" high with handle, 2 7/8" wide with handle-cup, 4 1/4" diameter-saucer, with gold high handle, bottom is signed with Crown with "N" in red.

Soft paste porcelain luncheon or salad plate, 8 3/8 inches (20.32 cm) diameter, with hand painted underglaze medium blue in the “Ronda” pattern. Though unmarked, the pattern, the color and the deep molded swirled ribs and basketweave border are distinctively Tournai. The underglaze blue “2” on the back is probably the mark of the painter.

Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Minor surface scratches.

An underglaze blue hand painted ”Ronda” pattern soft paste porcelain plate with a deep molded rib border and barbed edge. Though unmarked the painted pattern and the distinctive molding are typical of Tournai. The diameter is 8 inches (20.32 cm).

An earthenware transfer printed in colors plate with a floral border and the scene of a young woman riding a donkey sidesaddle while another well dressed woman stands by. The number “8” appears in a small cartouche above the scene and the title, “Promeade á âne.” The mark on the back seems unreadable, but looks just like an impressed mark for the French manufacturer Montereau and the date of around 1850 is maybe a little late but about right...
