Lovely pair of sterling silver sugar tongs with opaque turquoise and white enamel decoration. The quality of these tongs is apparent from the ornate and elegant piercing of the tips. Stamped on the inside “Sterling 1212” and hallmarked by the H. H. Curtis Co. (North Attleboro, MA, 1891-1915).

Origin: America, circa 1900. Condition: excellent, no missing enamel, no monogram, faint lemony gilding. Size: 3-1/4” long.

This is a set of three Victorian ivory knife rests hand carved with simple detail to represent pairs of facing elephants with trunks joined. Measurement: length of each, approx. 5 inches. Condition: very good. To be sold individually.

Three plates with a blind molded basket weave border and swirled ribs the way Coalport molded plates in the early part of the 19th century. The hand painted flowers in a central bouquet and four single flowers on the lip are very much in the early Coalport style. The plates are 9 ¼ inches (23.5 cm) in diameter.

Conditon: no chips cracks, hairlines or repairs for two and the third with a spider in the center...

Outstanding sterling silver pastry serving fork in Alvin's rare Art Nouveau "Majestic" pattern. Created in 1900, this pattern was a multi-motif design--each piece was decorated with a slightly different floral pattern. This piece features beautifully detailed daffodils and sinuous foliage. Excellent condition with sharp details and no monogram. 7-1/4" long.

A high quality brilliant cut crystal celery or bread roll dish c1910-30. This 11-1/2 x 4-5/8" serving dish has an acid stamp mark with the Roden mark with the word THOMAS (possibly the pattern name or the retailer). This item is in very good original condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than the expected chips and flakes to the upper rim (on about 20 peaks with the largest shown)...

An Oude Loosdrecht plate with a modest bouquet of hand painted flowers in the center of the well, sprigs of flowers here and there, a molded lip with the molding picked out in blue and a gilt edge. Marked on the bottom with the initials M.O.L. with a star and incised with a star, letters and numbers. 9 ¾ inches (24.8 cm) diameter.

Condition: the most serious damage is a visible chip on the rim. There is also a tiny one below the rim...

Very attractive Victorian lacquered papier-mache soap box decorated with a japonaise design. The sides show laborers pulling a boat filled with partiers along a canal. The lid shows a kneeling maiden tending her flower garden in a classic Japanese garden. The lid is also decorated with the soap maker's logo. Japanese styled items were very popular in France from around 1870 until the end of the century.

A blue and white hand painted wall tile of a dog rising up on its hind legs. The animal is surrounded by a circle of a wavy line with dots in the wave troughs and flowers in the corners. It is 5 1/8 inches (13 cm) square about ½ inch (1.2 cm) tall. The red clay sides are beveled so that the back is slightly smaller than the front...

An Oude Loosdrecht porcelain soup plate with an off-center bouquet in the bowl, scattered flowers and a molded lip picked out in blue. The gilt rim is slightly shaped. Marked on the bottom in underglaze blue with the initials M.O.L. and incised with numbers, letters and a star. 9 ½ inches (24 cm) diameter.

Condition: A fairly substantial chip to the rim on one side and a small under the rim chip on the other. Stack wear, especially around the border between the lip and the bowl...

A 7-3/4" step handle master butter knife in the early Gorham Fleur de Lis pattern, discontinued in 1865. Fiddle dinner spoon from Hall & Elton (1839 -1890), Connectitcut, the pointed shape of the blade indicates mid 19th century. Hall & Elton is known to have made lots of silvered cutlery. However, this spoon is tested for a silver content of at least 830/1000 (= Swedish silver standard), and so probably is coin silver. Sterling silver was introduced 1870 in America. Length "8 ¾ / 22.5 cm, weight 45 grams. Condition: fine.

Sugar bowl and lid, an early piece from the Boch manufacture in Luxembourg. Urn-shaped, with a stylized tulip border, the sides with mask “handles”, all in the Empire style of the late 18th / early 19th century. The base with the impressed circle mark BOCH A (LUXEMBOURG) that was in use 1813-1835. Height "5 ¼ / 13.3 cm. Condition: bowl with hairlines, repair to the lid.

An English sterling silver master butter knife by Wm. Eley, London 1836...

I have seen weapons such as this one described as everything from ancient Roman, Celtic and Chinese to medieval and on and on. Though I have been unable to find much in the way of references, I am fairly certain that this spear and others like it are ceremonial polearms from the Qing Dynasty. They are most likely 18th or 19th century. They have crudely decorated brass collars between the socket and blade. This one and the three others I have listed are in good condition with no signs of repair. ...
