A very fine 13-piece gilt silver coffee or tea service by Bruckmann & Soehne, one of Imperial Germany's leading silversmiths. Peter Bruckmann established the Deutscher Werkbund in 1907 to bring designs by the major German artists into the public realm. The slightly angular spade-shaped handles look forward to the Art Deco, while the subject matter itself depicts traditional Greek gods and goddesses...

Oval silver box and lid of tea caddy shape, the knop of the lid a natural oval stone, probably veined gneiss. Engraved Georgian style borders and crest, the crest with a dedication, “From Steanis”, a gift in Georgian style and probably made around 1900. The box is unmarked and has been tested as sterling silver. Its weight is 798 grams. Length "7 ¼ / 18.5 cm, height including the knob "4 ¾ / 12cm. Condition: a few scratch marks around the crest and a minimal dent to the backside (cf. pics)...

An uncommon silver tastevin, the bottom inset with a Mexican silver coin featuring the likeness of King Ferdinand VII of Spain, the last Spanish emperor to rule over Mexico. The coin is dated 1821, the year Mexico became independent of Spain. The tastevin is constructed in classic French style, with a coiled snake handle, but it lacks the embellishments usually seen on French examples. The bowl is simply decorated with a hammered surface...

It has an ebony finial with a threaded wingnut mount and it weighs 256 grams...
