A beautiful sterling silver vase in the Art Nouveau taste by Shreve & Co. The sinuous trumpet form body is decorated with gorgeous applied silver iris blossoms and buds accented with engraved foliage. The body rises to a ruffled rim that mimics the curvy lines of the floral decoration. The foot is decorated at compass points with iris blossoms, their stems forming the rolled bottom edge. The bottom is hallmarked by Shreve & Co. with the post-1894 mark.

The simply-shaped handle is decorated with bright-cut engraving of foliage with a spray of lilies-of-the-valley cascading across the end. The bowl is matte gilt and pierced in a pleasant design that does not compete with the restrained decoration of the handle. Sugar sifters were used to sprinkle sugar over fruit during the dessert service, and are not terribly common...

This is a beautifully crafted souvenir spoon from San Francisco, pre-dating the Golden Gate Bridge.In the bowl of the spoon is the Golden Gate, with the Marin Headlands on the right and Fort Point on the left. There is sailing vessel in the water and a setting sun beyond the Golden Gate.

Elegant 19th C. chocolate or demitasse coffee pot by Shreve & Co. Measures 10 5/8" tall and 7 3/4" wide (including spout and handle). There are two ivory insets in the beautiful elongated handle. One side has an engraved stag's head. Marks on base include an "S" on each side of a bell, "Shreve & Co., Sterling, San Francisco". On close inspection, I noticed a small dent on the underside of the spout (near top). Otherwise, excellent condition, inside and out. Circa 1890.

Very fine French engraved sterling chalice. This chalice measures 8 1/4" tall with a 4" diameter top and 5 1/2" diameter base. The mid-section has a deeply engraved petal design with four engraved circular accents. The cup interior is gilded and the base is hollow. Exceptional Gorham "Athenic" copper vase or urn caged in pierced sterling silver. The Athenic line was designed as an Art Line to compliment Martele. A lovely set of six sterling silver strawberry forks in Lunt’s 1893 “Navarre” pattern. This pattern was actually developed by A. F. Towle & Sons, which eventually was purchased by Lunt Silversmiths. Elegant, well crafted Gorham footed centerpiece bowl with applied handles. The interior of the bowl is gilded. The handles have a petal motif with a bead at each tip. The centerpiece measures 7" high by 11" wide including the handles. Without the handles, it is 5 3/8" high and has a diameter of 9". There is a unique and beautiful monogram at the bottom. Marks on the base are a lion, anchor, "G" and 310. The marks indicate coin silver from 1863-1865. The piece is in excellent condition.

Rare and exquisite footed, fluted, pierced and engraved sterling Gorham bowl with gilded interior. This gorgeous bowl has it all and makes a beautiful centerpiece. It measures 10 1/2"long by 7" wide and is 3 1/4" deep. The bottom is engraved 1898, but the marks indicate it was made in 1891. A very nice sterling silver pincushion and sewing box by Tiffany & Co. The pierced sterling silver walls enclose a sewing box (or jewelry box) with two hinged tops that serve as pincushions. The current dark purple velvet is a replacement, but is placed over the original box structure. The pierced handle has an area that can be monogrammed (never been monogrammed). The whole is raised on bun feet. The bottom is marked with the Tiffany hallmark in use 1902-07.

Very nice set of 11 sterling silver cocktail or seafood forks in Gorham’s 1899 “Cambridge” pattern. This was one of Gorham’s most popular late Victorian patterns. The handles are encrusted in a decoration of wild roses with gadrooned edges. The backs are marked with an older Gorham hallmark and the patent date, indicating that these are early.

This tureen holds 4 quarts of liquid. It was made by the Meridan Britannia Company in 1886-1887.

All of the plating is still original. There is however, a few spots where, as shown in my picture, there is some loss of silver. A magnificent addition to any silver collection. The collar is 7/8" in diameter and is wonderfully chased.

Outstanding sterling silver soup ladle in a repousse pattern. The design is a very finely worked pattern of roses and other flowers and foliage. The bowl is deeply lobed and has a scalloped edge. The pattern is similar to Kirk’s “Repousse”, but not identical. The back is marked “Sterling” but is not marked with a maker’s name (a frequent practice until around 1910). Clearly, the ladle is a Baltimore piece, and could be the work of Schofield, Warner, Jacobi or Kirk.

A gorgeous sterling silver cream ladle rare on two counts. First, Fessenden’s 1910 “Tulip” pattern is very uncommon. Secondly, while spoons were often engraved as souvenir pieces, serving pieces were hardly ever given this treatment. This is the only souvenir cream ladle we’ve seen. The matte gilt bowl is engraved with a very detailed representation of the U.S. Capitol Building underscored by “Washington DC”. The back is hallmarked by Fessenden & Co.

Beautiful set of six sterling silver seafood forks in terrific Art Nouveau pattern by Joseph Seymour. Each piece is covered from the tip of the handle to the very beginnings of the tines with curves and stylized chrysanthemum-like blossoms in the Japonaise style. The tines are nicely curved and barbed. The backs are hallmarked by Seymour.
