Miniature Eastlake design carved wood and upholstery sofa with 8 legs. It measures 20 1/4" long by 9 1/2" high by 6" deep. The wood has a mahogany reddish stain and the printed fabric is upholstery grade. The colors of the fabric are a beige background with blue and yellow stripes and red and green flowers. Victorian letter opener made of a deer hoof with a hinged bone opener. The Victorian era often used organic materials for jewelry and objects, including desk accessories. Stunning Imperial Russian lacquered tea caddy. The top is handpainted with a scene of a Boyar cradling a princess in his arms as they ride a large wolf through the forest--no doubt a scene from a Russian fairy tale. The quality of decoration is superb. The inside of the caddy is lacquered red.

Wonderful lacquered box from Russia's Imperial era. The lid has a handpainted summer troika scene. Scenes depicting troikas in the snow are a bit more common. The design is very colorful and the facial detail on the three people is very nice. The lid is signed "E. Gustov" (translated). The box is lacquered red inside.

Finely detailed carved ivory monkey face, c.1920's. He appears to be laughing with open mouth and measures 1 9/16" in diameter. There an open crack due to age at the top left -see photo #2. Victorian Scottish Mauchlineware Pencil Box
Rare mauchline ware pencil box featuring transfers of two different scenes. The lid is decorated with a scene entitled “London Bridge & Cannon St. Station” and the body scene is entitled “Lambeth Palace”. Both transfers are very crisp and detailed. English scenes are much less common than images of Scotland. This piece is also larger than most pieces of mauchlineware.

Very attractive Victorian lacquered papier-mache soap box decorated with a japonaise design. The sides show laborers pulling a boat filled with partiers along a canal. The lid shows a kneeling maiden tending her flower garden in a classic Japanese garden. The lid is also decorated with the soap maker's logo. Japanese styled items were very popular in France from around 1870 until the end of the century.

Fresh from a multi-generation New England estate are two matching, stacking, 19th century, wooden pantry boxes.
They were originally assembled using glue, wooden pegs, and square head nails, although many of these were replaced at some point with early round head nails.
Condition is quite good with some age-related separation of wood as seen in photos---nothing that disturbs the structural integrity or visual appeal of this very early pair. Both retain wonderful, all-original patina...
19th century aneroid desk barometer in a stunning ivory case raised on a turned pedestal and surmounted with a carved ivory bust depicting a young farm maiden. The carving is superbly done, with great attention to the girl's hair and 18th century-style lace-trimmed bonnet. Her face is charming. A very nice lacquered papier-mache tabletop box, the cover with colorful Chinoiserie scene. The decoration depicts a noble lady and gentlemen being entertained by a troop of magicians in their garden. While two of the magicians look on, the third is juggling four balls.
