Attractive and unusual Victorian inlaid wood stereographgraphoscope. When the lid is raised and a stereograph is inserted in the holder, the viewer looks through the magnifying portal for a realistic three dimensional view.

A true survivor. This is a 6-3/4" x 5" double well papier-mache tea caddy with ornate decoration with a porcelain miniature c1850-60. This attractive tea caddy stands 4-1/4" high and the hinged lid lifts to reveal the twin compartments, whose lids have hand carved and decorated mother-of-pearl grips. On the lid a “portrait” of a lady generously décolleté, with a tiara and pearl necklace, an opulent and luxurious mock fiancé that many a gentleman of the period liked to show his friends when bringing out his snuff box. On the front is written Bellagio, meaning that the box was sold in this lovely resort by Lake Como as a souvenir. Width "8½/ 22 cm, height "2¾/ 7 cm and depth "6/15,5 cm. Condition: fine, except for the small key which is best left unturned, since it is difficult to maneuvre.
