An antique Japanese Kake Suzuribako (aka calligraphy merchant box) made of Kuri (Chestnut) wood. All original finish and hand forged iron hardware. Hinged lid opens to a storage area where an inkstone and Sumi (ink sticks) were kept. The remainder of the top has a slot where coins were inserted to be kept in the upper drawer out of the sight of wondering eyes. From our European Collection, a very fine Napoleon III gilt bronze mounted lacquer side cabinet, late 19th century. Elegantly constructed with black lacquered wood, gilded bronze adornments along the top, side, and bottom friezes, and a wonderful central bronze plaque of frolicking cherubs, all surmounted by a veined off-white marble top that appears to be original. Comes with original functioning key.

An antique Japanese Shibayama Cabinet in 2 sections used as a display Tansu. A center mirror is surrounded by beautiful ornamental hinged and sliding doors revealing a story of ancient Japan with a Nobleman and his servant, a Samurai warrior with his apprentice, a crane keeper letting his birds free, flowers and birds. Sliding and hinged doors open to spacious cabinets with drawers used for additional space. Fine filigree work depicting Chrysanthemums among an arabesque pattern...

Lovely American tiger oak server with bevelled mirrored back, two drawers over one long drawer over two doors with a small shelf between them. It has Queen Anne legs and the moulding on top of the mirror is curved, ending with small rosettes. Thie piece measures 45" wide x 56" tall x 22 1/2" deep.

This English Georgian mahogany desk is ablaze with fine flame mahogany figured wood on its front and with solid sides. The drawers are slightly graduated, rising from a frame with bracket feet. The brass pulls have the Prince of Wales symbol.

The slanted front drops and is supported by 2 retracting arms. The desk surface is missing its felted surface which could be replaced. The fitted interior contains 6 cubby holes, 2 stacked drawers on each side, and wider drawer between...

Three elongated light blue plaques mounted in antique brass bow frames with screw-on backs. The plagues measure about 2" wide x 3" high, and are in excellent condition. The brass frames measure about 2 1/2" wide by 5 3/4" tall and are also in excellent condition. DESCRIPTION: A charming pair of French Provincial armchairs, each crafted from solid, carved cherry wood and each having rush seats with red accent stripes, early 20th C. Carved turned arms attach to an arched ladderback over the red striped seats on turned tapered legs with toupie feet, joined by stretchers. Very good condition.
