Pair of antique Japanese Inari foxes hand carved out of granite. Each has traces of the original mineral pigment. Also called zenko, these good spirit kitsune (foxes) are specifically associated with the goddess, Inari.
Believed to be both messengers and guardians, kitsune served Inari in her role as goddess of agriculture, specifically rice. Part of the folklore surrounding the fox is it’s ability to shape shift into human form...

This very unusual table measures 52" square when closed, and has four leaves, each measuring 11 1/2" wide, bringing the table to 98" long when full extended. There is a center leg for support. The base has huge paws with decoration on the pedestal. It is in perfect condition.

Made in Rockville, Illinois, this is probably the best dining room set we've ever had. It consists of a rare zebra wood top table, two arm chairs, four side chairs, large server, small buffet and closed china cabinet with fabulous inlay. The table, which has a drawer in one end, measures 68" long x 48" wide x 32" tall. It has two 12" leaves, both with aprons, making it 92" long when fully extended. It has flowered inlay in all corners, with inlay trim around the aprons...

A Mahogany Inlaid Child's or Youth's Rocker with a rush seat. Dimensions; 29 1/2" high x 19" wide x 17" deep. There is a back label that states "patented 1890", with a date of manufacture of 1902.

An antique Japanese Nagoya Mizuya Tansu (kitchen chest) in 2 sections made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Keyaki (Zelkova) woods. All original bronze hardware. Upper section has 4 sliding doors with 2 sliding doors below and 3 side by side drawers. The lower section has 2 sliding doors with 2 side by side drawers below.

Originally used to store large jars of water for cooking and storage for plates, dishes, cookware and eating utensils...

An American New England Federal Cherry Candle Stand with a Shaped Top and Spider Legs. Dimensions; top 21.5" x 16.25" x 27" high. Circa 1800-1820. There is an old repair on the top (photo 5) but otherwise in excellent condition for a period piece.

An antique Japanese Sendai Tansu (kimono chest) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. Original natural Urushi lacquer and hand forged iron hardware including the stylized Mokko handles. A vine arabesque design surrounds the family crest on each of the lock plates.

Antique French Art Deco pedestal desk. Made of hardwood with dramatically striated grain. The desk top has a large, white rectangular writing surface and two drawers. This antique Japanese merchant chest (Choba Tansu) is a rare and exquisite piece of Japanese history. It was crafted using Paulownia (Kiri) and Cryptomeria (Sugi) woods. A German, domed top chest with ornamental hand wrought iron hardware, heavily oxidized and worn original surface and paint, and marked in white “T Adam Schuch reifst nach New York”. The chest looks like 17th century work. The name and destination likely added in the 18th century upon immigration. Reasonably good decoration considering the history. Length, 35 inches. Height, 17 1/2 inches. Depth, 18 1/2 to 19 inches (varying due to movement of the wood at the joinings).

Empire style three stack lawyers bookcase, professionally refinished. There is a drawer on the bottom, and an original label on the back from Lundstrom. It measures 48" tall x 33 1/2" wide.
