Etruscan or early Roman bronze oil lamp with a beautifully detailed pegasus or merhorse . This came from an old estate in the 1920 and sadly had been drilled and mounted as a lamp but the horse is perfect . Size L 9" W 7" H 5" weight 3.6 lb
Roman bronze eagle standing with outspread wings on the head of an antelope. The eagle is modeled in the round, tail and wing feathers are engraved. The head of the prey is worked as an attachment.
The eagle on the antelope head is associated to the worship of Jupiter Dolichenus, whose syncretic mystery cult was widespread among Roman soldiers since the time of Vespasian.
