A lovely little set of three smaller axes, one likely German or Northern Europe, dark bronze hardstone and finely polished (9,8 cm), a nice green stone Meso-American celt, also neolithic period (6,2 cm), and lastly a pointed butt type, likely ancient Near East or Northern Africa (7,8 cm). Interesting collection of a faience Shu amulet and a book from the property of Lord Grenfell. Francis Grenfell was an interesting person with a very exciting life. The book „The Sacred Beetle: A Popular Treatise on Egyptian Scarabs in Art and History“, by John Ward has a personal dedication from the author to Lord Grenfell from 1903.
The faience Shu amulet comes also from the Lord Grenfell collection.
