This is a lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, 1200 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 5/8” long (16 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

This is a beautiful and rare copper alloy dagger from the Dong Son culture of southeast Asia circa 250 BCE. It has an attractive patina that belies its high tin content alloy. The edges of the blade are chipped as is common for the brittle nature of high tin content bronze objects. The remaining metal appears to be solid and stable with no signs of repair or restoration. The hollow portion of the perforated handle is filled with either soil or wood remains (or both)...

This bronze axe head is from ancient Iran and dates to around 1500 BC. Similar examples are attributed to either the Amlash or Luristan cultures. This particular specimen has two rings around the socket. It has light green patina. It is solid and stable but does have a small dent and perforation in the socket area that is visible in the photos. It weighs 513 grams and measures roughly 14 cm in length. This is a prime specimen of ancient bronze craftsmanship at a very reasonable price...

A high quality earthenware bowl with incised decoration in green and painted in green and manganese on the exterior (Bamiyan type), afghanistan, c. 12th. century (Pre 1221 A.D.).

With carinated walls, and a beautiful Islamic symethric pattern in high relief in the interior. As typical for the most boldest specimens, the green and manganese colours are sort of splashed on the exterior side.

Early Bronze Age jug of piriform body, narrow neck and beaked spout. The handle is parted at the join to the belly and decorated with diagonal fluting – to render a twisted feature.

This is an impressively preserved Terracotta Tomb Pottery, Sancai-Glazed figure of Lu Dongbin, one of the Eight Immortals. He is one of the most widely known of the Eight Daoist Immortals and considered to be the leader of the group. An ancient Egyptian deep blue faience scarab, inscribed with a beetle (kheper) and flail. New Kingdom, 1550 –1070 3/4 inch. Intact.

Mesopotamian incantation bowl with the meaningless repetition of the same letter. The text is grouped in adjacent areas and surrounds two demonic figures with differentiated sexual attributes.
The woman appears with long hair or a veil, the man is depicted with a short brush cut.
Arms and legs are hatched, the fingers indicated. The arms are bound together.
Between the figures a scorpion with segmented body and multiple legs. The grasping pincers are rendered as simple lines...
