Interesting stone stamp seal found in Harran, easternmost Turkey, prior to 1991. Harran was founded as a real city at some point between the 25th and 20th centuries BC, possibly as a merchant colony by Sumerian traders from Ur. Over the course of its early history, Harran rapidly grew into a major Mesopotamian cultural, commercial and religious center.

A fine specimen of a Danish Neolithic Battle Mace, dating to Single Grave Period - c. 2800-2400 B.C.
The mace is carved from hardstone with an elliptical body. In the center a furrow - approx. 0,5 deep and 1 cm. wide - is carved, to make a secure fastening of the mace to the wooden shaft.
Size: 11 x 5 x 6 cm - weighing 720 gr.
Condition: A choice mace with very few imperfections. Nice patination.

A fascinating ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1200 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 11/16” long (17 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.
An ancient Egyptian white steatite scarab, with finely engraved anatomical features such as clypeus, prothorax and elytra. The reverse is detailed with hieroglyphs, including the engraved depiction of a beetle scarab with the sun disk, a basket, a feather of Maat and a papyrus stem. This is an amazing bronze dagger from the ancient middle East - probably Northern Iran. It has a very heavy, wide blade with a prominent midrib. The tang is a typical, square, rat-tail style. The patina is a mix of light green and brown typical to pieces from that region. The piece is solid and stable and is in excellent condition overall.
