Greek black-glazed skyphos with high swelling body and plain rim. Fairly wide base with low, bulged foot. Two round-sectioned handles applied horizontally to the exterior of the rim.

Black-glazed dish of shallow form with thick wall, comprising a small offset between the rounded lip and the foot. Shallow rounded floor.
Warm brownish gloss with fingermarks around the base, where held during dipping. Black all over with reserved bottom.
Fine light beige clay, very much depurated and hard fired. Possibly of northern Campania production.

A fine and large Egyptian bronze figure of Osiris in mummyform, Late Period, 26th Dynasty (Saite Period), about 627 - 525 B.C.

The large figure depicts the mummiform Osiris wearing the Atef-crown holding crook and flail. Interestingly, there's remains of ancient gilt on the body in many places.

Beautifully shaped oinochoe covered with a black metallic glossy varnish of excellent quality.
The flat shoulder decorated with radiating strokes in applied red. The body with a meander and a wavy line with circles in the interstices. The handle area framed by vertical lines.
The high swung handle arching from the trefoil mouth to the shoulder.
The concise modeling orientates on jugs made in metal.

Apulian plate of shallow floor with a low sloping rim with flattened top. Impression from the foot of another dish on the floor. Standing on a low foot with beveled molding.
Faint traces of fingertips around the foot where the plate was held when dipped into the black glaze. Covered with a dense black glaze.

Daunian kyathos with wide flat floor and slightly flared rim, the tall strap handle attached at one end.
Decorated (inside and out) with bands and linear patterns in umber and brick red on a buff ground. The floor enhanced with a central flower device.
The floor of vase suffered a shrinkage crack during the drying process. The kyathos was nevertheless fired and reserved for ritual/funerary purposes.

Nice suite of three faiance items, inc. two Djetpillar amulets in torquise and Egyptian blue pierced for suspension, together with a large faiance bead or fertility amulet (?), Late period, c. 660-332 BC.

The lid decorated on both sides with a winged Eros seated on a rock and facing left. One figure holds up a mirror with his right hand, the other carries a dish with double hooks, a sash suspended underneath. Flowers in the field.
One Eros wears a kekryphalos with a bun at rear, the other a pointed cap. Both carry earrings, necklaces, bracelets, strings of beads around the chest, the left thigh and anklet, as well as sandals.

Flat-bottomed aryballos with two neatly incised male busts showing big eyes and pointed chins. The hair is tied in a tuft (krobylos) by a fillet and falls gently along the shoulder.
The busts alternate with geese. Rosettes in the field. Radiating strokes on shoulder and rim.

Daunian bag-shaped vessel enhanced with a carefully rendered female protome just below the straight rim. The head with large lentoid earrings (?) and a necklace: the hair painted blue, short strokes along the body.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this fragmented, but still lovely Egyptian blue faience offering cup with cartouche. The back and part of the lower portion is missing, however the front containing the cartouche of the pharaoh is still intact. The cartouche is highlighted in black and appears to contain the cartouche of Amenhotep. The vessel measures 2" in height, plus the size of the base. This is a rare and large ovoid bead which is pierced longitudinally. The top has a rounded surface inscribed with the cartouche of Shabaka „Amen Meri Nefer-Ka-Ra“ and below the expression „living forever“. On the flat side of the bead is an old tag attached
which is inscribed „Meri Amen - Nefer Ka-Ra (Shabaka) (XXV Dyn) Live for ever - 1808“

Glazed jug of globular body and evert neck. Three raised knobs around the shoulder. Arching strap handle with tiny knobs at the topmost point, standing on a bulged base.

A lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1400 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 3/8” long (9 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

A very beautiful tall figural alabastron in form of Kore, Eastern Greek, Middle of the 6th century BC.

The portrait is in the tradition of the Kore representations, here as a young elegant woman holding a bird in her left hand, red-brown terracotta.

Attractive black-glazed oinochoe with trefoil spout and arched handle. The neck area decorated with grape wine and tendril motifs suspended from bands. The applied white color partially ‘gilded’ with a yellow ochre wash.

A nice and affordable chisel / axe, Danish Neolithic period 3rd. millenium BC.

Though some chisels are made as late as Daggertime just before the bronzeage, this unpolished attractive chisel was likely made during the Singlegrave period, 2800-2400 BC.
