This is an authentic archaic Chinese nephrite jade sword fitting, typical of the style of the Han dynasty, which would have been attached to the pommel of a sword. The obverse features an animal, a tiger or a bear, in profile, while the reverse has a six-character inscription, now somewhat worn. The piece is drilled biconically from top to bottom for attachment. It measures 1-1/2" wide by 1-1/4" in height. Depth is approximately 1/2" (4cm X 3cm X 1mm)...

A Very Fine Chinese White Jade Handle/Mirror Back Hand Held Mirror: China, Qing dynasty, 18th/19th century...

This is an authentic Nephrite jade carving of a mythical beast known as a Bixie, as those of you who collect in this area will recognize. The piece measures slightly less than 3-1/2" in length and is1-5/8" in height. The stone is a pale celadon in color, showing substantial alteration in the hindquarters. There is a minor loss at the tip of (one branch) of the tail. Fully carved, with fangs, snout and paws all clearly defined. A very dynamic carving, dating to the late Qing dynasty...

Chinese agate girdle clasp, also called "sui" in Chinese. I am uncertain about the date of it, but do believe that it should be from Qing Dynasty or earlier. It is in good condition with russet streaks. 2-3/8" X 1-1/8" X 1/2".

Small Chinese Bi-form white jade ornament in the Mughal manner with cupped chrysanthemum petals in three, concentric, graduated circles surrounding a cross-hatched, pierced center. The flat verso cupped slightly toward the face along the rim, with small drilling (exhibiting hand craftsmanship) either side of the central aperture and with the surface exhibiting natural texture of the hand worked surface. This is an authentic nephrite bead from the Warring States period decorated on all four sides with a meandering design, bracketed by inverted "t" shapes. It measures some 3-1/4" in length and is perforated it's entire length, suitable for suspension or wearing. Some calcification is noted.

The imagery used on this Chinese carving can be derived from the noted legend of Journey to the West, where the monkey king is assigned by the Jade Emperor to oversee the heavenly stables, but does mischief in the end.
