The quality of the carving is extraordinary.
This bamboo brush pot comes from an old German collection, there still is an old inventory number to the base of the piece. There is a Chinese inscription to the piece which can be translated as follows : "the boat is ready to go to heaven, the prince will go seek help from god".
Qing Dynasty, nineteenth century or earlier.
H : 14,4 cm. Diameter : 10,9 cm.
Condition : Perfect with a nice patina.

Antique Chinese small, carved boxwood container in the form of a lotus pod. A millet-like seeding plant entwines the lotus pod, it's elegant stalks acting as handles on the side and lid of the container.

Massive Chinese late Qing dynasty finely carved root wood figural group mounted on a tripod root wood stand featuring the immortal Li Tieguai (“Iron Crutch Li”) in a dancing pose at the center flanked by two immortals. Li Tieguai holds an unidentified object in one hand while the attendants each hold a peach. A finely carved Chinese boxwood statue of the Tang poet Li Bai. Dressed in official attire with a scroll in his right hand, Li Bai appears to be deep in thought as he strokes his beard.
