Antique Korean three section lacquer cabinet, with elaborate inlaid scenes of various birds, deer, fish, and flowers. Auspicious creatures with fish tails, turtle shells, and the head of mammals are also seen in several panels. Brass hardware decorates the pieces such as butterfly shaped lockplates and hinges. A Korean Rare/Fine Scholar’s Wood Bookshelf Chest: Korean, Joseon period, 19th century The paulownia wood surfaces ot the rectangular chest covered by old aged natural patina, mounted with metal fittings, the two central and rectangular hinged doors, and mounted with metal hinges and lock attacked to the lockplate the two doors opening to the double inner horizontal compartments set. It’s in fine condition with aged natural patina. Measurements; 86cm x 42.5cm x 70cm h.

Beautiful Northern Korean bandaji (blanket storage chest) with highly ornate white brass fittings incised with birds and flowers and auspicious symbols. The white brass plated mounts are cladded onto the front of the chest hinged to allow operation of the drop leaf door. The chest has two handles on the side for mobility and two handles on the front to aid in operation of the door.

A very unusual Korean chest with a complex network of geometric designs on its front, top, and sides, brass hardware incised with floral motifs, two front doors with large brass lock and working key, opening to a beautiful interior of persimmon laminate front drawers. The middle drawer opens with a special secret latch underneath it.
