Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse (AD 618 - 906)
This pottery horse was made during the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It stands upright with its head turned very slightly to its left. It is made from a buff-coloured pottery and is particularly "heavily-potted". Looking inside the body shows it was made in a two-piece mould. It has been "cold painted" in a base coat of a creamy-white pigment with details picked out in red and black pigments...

Circa 1820, Chinese Export blue and white porcelain helmet creamer. Featuring a hand painted continuous scene of a Chinese village landscape with boats on water and intricate borders, it is in excellent antique condition, showing only a little wear to the gold trim at the rim and top of handle. Measures: 5 inches high, 3.25" wide, 5" long.
A Chinese SONG YUAN DYNASTY (960-1297) Celadon Bowl swiftly incised with a rare butterfly-like design/pattern. The foot of the bowl remains unglazed and has some original soil deposit as this is a river find. Very fine condition, no chips, hairlines, restorations nor repairs.

19th century netsuke carved out of burl wood, its natural shape resembling reishi fungus (Fungus of Immortality, and with low relief carving of a snail on its top. Very clever piece, excellent carving of the mollusk and its shell. Signed on the stem ISHIKOKU (alternative reading is Sekitani). Himotoshi is formed by a natural branch on the bottom. Head of the fungus length 1.95 inches.
A lovely little Japanese cloisonne vase depicting two flowers in polychrome enamels worked in silver wire on a green ground with silver mountings. In excellent condition, it measures 5 inches high. Dates circa 1910.

Early 19th century boxwood netsuke of a monkey seated with its head down and turned to its left, supporting a hude bamboo shoot on its shoulder. Excellent carving with clean lines, great thoughtful expression on its face. Large and deep himotoshi (cord opening) in accordance with the habit of the time. Overall beautiful mellow patina from wear. Very clever and charming piece. Height 1 9/16 inches.

Late Meiji to early Taisho (1910s)) netsuke of himono (dried fish, this one appears to be salmon) on top of a woven bamboo basket. Well captured essence of the objects, beautifully realistic desiccated texture of the fish. Cursively signed on the bottom - possibly reads KAWAYUKI. Excellent sense of volume, wonderful patina. Clearly made by an adoring grandmother, this antique Dong Minority hat is covered with a variety of ornate embroidery stitches including both wrapped thread and couching techniques. The hat is topped with silver half beads representing bubbles and a large top knot.. It is a bid dirty which would be expected in a childs hat of this age and use.
