A very finely cast statue of Bodhisattva Manjusri wearing diadem and formal attire, holding a book in his left hand, his right hand in argumentative posture. Manjusri is sitting cross-legged on an elevated lotus throne resting on the back of a stylized lion, itself standing on a rounded base. Bronze with dark-green patina. Traces of an original lacquering and gilding. China, early Ming Dynasty. Height: 6 1/4" (16 cm). Tiny part of diadem missing, otherwise very good condition.
Chinese Export Porcelain Platter for American Market with family Lion crest, and initialed Seal inside the Shield supported by two(2) leafy branches, orange reddish overglaze Lion on top, later part of 1700's to early 1800's, 19" wide, 16 1/2" high, 1 3/4" high, heavy orange peel surface, with cobalt blue border high lighted with brilliant gold. The condition is good, some of the enamel colors on the family Crest area is slightly rubbed off from usage.
A kozuka with sea shell and seaweed decoration with gold and silver overlaid on shakudo (a pickled gold and copper alloy) nanako ('fish roe' textured ground.) The utility knife handle with filed gilt bronze sides and back. Slight bend and the nanako somewhat dented in places. Would present nicely enough with a sword fitted to hold a kozuka in the saya (scabbard.) Kogatana (utility blade) not included. Length, 3 3/4 inches.
Antique Chinese porcelain bowl, made extremely thin, with gilt enamel along its rim. The inside of the bowl has a gilt shou symbol (Chinese character for longevity), lined in red and surrounded by five red lucky bats. The outside of the bowl has a mille fleur style enamel with many multi-colored flowers and other plants over a black enamel background. Red Guangxu mark on bottom.
