A pair of Chinese export boat paintings, see text on flags, circa 1840's. Gouache on paper (not rice paper). Under glass in hand painted frames with gold Chinese 'cash' decoration. Japanese gilt bronze vase; well modelled with an Art Nouveau style plaintain lilly (hosta) wrapped around the vase; marked on the base; good condition with some wear to the gilding

Original painting of Ukita Ikkei (1795-1859), a significant figure in the revival of yamato-e painting, a revered Japanese form of court painting. He was also the master of waka poems and calligraphy.

Ukita Ikkei was captured and imprisoned in Ansei Purge and died shortly after he was released from prison when he was 65 years old.
The artist's signature and red stamp seal are on the lower right...

Skillfully crafted Shino ware Tea Bowl (Chawan) for tea ceremony made in 19 century by anonymous potter.

Shino ware is produced in today's Gifu prefecture since 16th century and it is distinguished by thick white glazes, red marks and the surface of small holes.

Chinese brown glazed pottery granary jar, with cylindrical shape, decorated with bands of incised lines, and supported by three legs in the shape of bears.
Lead glaze with copper is the main colorant used in Han period to produce brown glaze. Brownware became popular during the Eastern Han period.

Pair of 1900's Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Vase Elephant Ears with Deer Marked

Each is 9 inches (22.9 cm) tall by 4.5 inches (11.5 cm) wide. Total weight is 3.1 Lb.

They have skip glazes, dark spots, rubbing of paint, stains and surface and scratches. One vase has chips at the bottom (as seen in the photos).

17th Century Chinese Kangxi Period Gilt Cobalt Blue Coral Red Glaze Porcelain Plate

It is 2.4 inches (6 cm) tall by 12.3 inches (31.2 cm) wide. It is 3.1 Lb.

It has dark spots, skip glazes, rubbing of gold and paint, uneven rim and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

Large head of Serapis shown with a fulsome beard and fringed hairdo over the forehead. On the crown a closed modius decorated with an olive branch.
The face with a small nose and flat eye cavities with thin eyelids. The mouth enclosed by a stringy moustache.
Modeled in the round. Two-piece mold with cursory back side. Remains of the original gesso layer in the cavities. Nice Hellenistic style.
Large-sized heads of Serapis are relatively rare...

A beautiful 19th C. Chinese lady’s brocade silk vest, opening frond with many monkey fist knots for closure, tend for smaller thin woman in excellent and clean condition, this is collectors dream item! H: 54cm $1200

Two small Ming jarlets. Sort of wabi-sabi, but no major damage. There are some surface glaze firing cracks and fritting on the mouth rim on the larger jar. Larger jar D: 6.7cm/2.7in and H: 5.3cm/2.1in, smaller jar D: 5.8cm/2.3in and H: 5cm/1.9in.

Chinese antique opera theatre costume in the Peking tradition. Most likely that of a Laosheng character and because of the purple color, that of a high ranking military official. Intricately embroidered with dragons and waves. Sewn with golden scales, mirror attachments and three dimensional fu-lion faces.

Antique Japanese Buddhist Pilgrim's coat. Buddhist monks associated with the teachings of Kukai (or Kobo Daishi) would embark on a pilgrimage to visit the 88 temples on the island of Shikoku. Upon arriving to each temple, the monk would bathe before giving offerings and reciting prayers as well as receive a stamp distinctive to each temple. Normally a monk would carry around a special stamp book however it is not unusual to stamp the monk's coat as seen here...

An antique tall Kasane Tansu (stacking Kimono chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron and bronze hardware. Upper section features a pair of sliding doors, a lift-out door and 6 drawers of varying sizes while the bottom section has 5 large drawers, a small drawer and a hinged security door that hides two small drawers where valuables were kept hidden away...

A 19th Century Korean double Nong chest decorated with Phoenixes and dragons. Speckled with gold flecks onto dry lacquer inlaid with mother of pearl, horn and brass.
