This is a rare and interesting ancient Egyptian scaraboid. An uraei knot is depicted on the top and a Hathor sistrum flanked by two uraei is incised on the bottom.
The uraei knot is much older than the Herakles knot and much probably the precursor.

Relic of the Nile is pleased to present his large Ptah-Sokar-Osiris figure with original base. The figure has nice facial features with some black cosmetic details remaining and a well-carved osiris beard. While the pigment has been lost throughout the piece there are still traces of the broad collar and vertical column that originally likely contained hieroglyphics showing the name of the owner. The figure is well-carved with only some losses to the neck area...
Large pale green Djed pillar amulet with high shaft and four horizontal bars. Delicate ropes delineated around the shaft immediately below the lowest bar.
The narrow column on the back is not pierced.
The Djed pillar amulet was connoted with stability and endurance and supposed to confer these qualities to the deceased.
The amulet was placed for magical protection over the throat of the deceased on the day of burial...

Rare fragment of a large faience sistrum. The fragment is the upper part
of a large faience sistrum with two hawks above side by side bearing the sun disk.
It is seldom to find a sistrum which is surmounted with gods or sacred animals.
A sistrum with a similar upper part is in the Eaton College Myer Collection (ECM1693), see last picture.

Large and rare two-coloured and two-sided Egyptian faience Wedjat Eye.
The Wedjat Eye is open-worked, the two-coloured side is convex and the other flat.

Interesting collection of a faience Shu amulet and a book from the property of Lord Grenfell. Francis Grenfell was an interesting person with a very exciting life.
The book „The Sacred Beetle: A Popular Treatise on Egyptian Scarabs in Art and History“,
by John Ward has a personal dedication from the author to Lord Grenfell from 1903.
The faience Shu amulet comes also from the Lord Grenfell collection.
