A rare and massive European Gate key, Late Medieval, ca. 14th.-15th. century.

A very heavy key with kidney-shaped bow and a very thick stem and bit. Remnants of copper plating on the surface.

Size: 21,3 cm. long and 8,3 cm. wide over the bow! Weight: ca. 300-350 grams.

Condition: Basically intact with very heavy patina and corrosion and loss of metal to the bit.

Impressive filigree silver 'temple' ring of a very elaborate type, Viking settlers from Scandinavia (Kingdom of the Rus or Kievan Rus), present day Ukraine, c. 800-1000 AD.

Beautiful and still wearable temple ring, in solid silver, which consists of a bow ring with a loop and an elaborately carved filigree bead. These rings were worn from a headband around the temples by Viking Rus women, hence the name Temple rings.

South German Nuremberg hand-hammered brass alms dish, late Gothic, early 16th century, circa 1500-1530 AD, with a rare pattern stamped in relief. The artwork portrays the Blessed Virgin Mary standing with Christ the Child. She is depicted as the Queen of Heaven, standing upon the crescent moon and surrounded by a mandorla of sun rays. She is dressed in elaborate garments and wears a crown...

An important and very interesting medieval floor tile, of a 13th.-14th. century English type, used in Noble houses, churches and monasteries in the period.

Size: 13,5-14 cm. on each side and very thick.

Condition: Intact and choice, with minimal detoriation of the glaze.

A pair of attractive early European iron keys, with remnants of copper on the larger one, c. 16th. century.

Lot includes a large 14,5 cm. long key with remnants of copper plating and cross cut bit, early 16th. century, perhaps even earlier. The other key with a hearthshaped bow, measuring 10,7 cm. c. 16th. century.

Condition: Very fine, nice metal with a thick and stable iron patina.

An ancient Early Medieval bronze Neck Torc, Baltic Vikings of the Rus, ca. 10th. century AD.

A torc with a terrific patina and of the beautiful Twisted design leaving the part of the Torc that would have rested on the neck smooth. Terminals as stylized animal heads.

This excellent 19th century WKC (Weyersburg, Kirschbaum & Company, Solingen, Germany) Imperial Hunting Cutlass is 22 inches in length. The mounts are composed of beautiful brass throughout the hilt and scabbard. The pommel area has a fluted nut at the top center of the cap which acts as a threaded tang nut. Antique Medieval 12th-15th century A.D. hand-forged iron sickle, with slender blade and short flat tang.

This type of sickle was part of the equipment of mounted warriors, a tool useful during military expeditions to cut the grass for the horse. A knight should also have a leather or canvas bucket for watering the horse.

CONDITION: Corroded, in excavated condition, but well-preserved, in stable condition. Please see the photos as they are a part of the description...

Interesting large amuletic seal in marble, probably crusader period, 11th.-13th. cent.

The seal was found in Eastern Anatolia / Western Mesopotamia - old crusader land. It was described in the large collection as a 'mystery seal', due to it's strange form and depiction on the seals base.

Finely carved in white marble with uncleaned parts of brown enbedded sand. The amulet in itself had the shape of a veiled Virgin Mary...
