Attractive larger stamp seal of a particularly fine-corned blackish stone with lighter inclusions, North Mesopotamian, 4th.-3rd. mill. BC.

It's beautiful shape is almost like a turtles shell and is highly polished and glossy. The base is engraved with an archaic style motif of two insect-like monsters fighting. Probably later Uruk period work.

Size: 27 mm. long, 25 mm. wide and 12 mm. tall.

Uncommon Etruscan belt buckle with hooks ending in a female head flanked by a couple of lion heads.
The lions bent forward with ears laid back and teeth bared. Both with lenticular eyes and engraved mane.
The woman looks in the opposite direction and shows a pointed face with almond-shaped eyes. The strands of her hair are curled up in front of her chest, much in accordance with archaic style.
Hooks and loops appear on narrow rectangular frames with emphasized corners...

He is wearing a tripartite wig which falls down between the shoulders...

This is an ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1250 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 1/2” long (13 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

Egyptian Faience "Djoser" Tile, 3rd Dynasty, c. 2650 BC. Faience tile with blue-green glaze. Size 6.1 x 3.4 cm. Smooth surface obverse with a projection and hole on the reverse for hanging. Small chip at upper right corner and along bottom, otherwise intact.

The blue faience tiles were made to resemble the reed matting of the king's palace at Memphis...

Rare amuletic pendant in the form of a herm with youthful bust to the top. The slender square section pillar shaped body with lugs to the side. A suspension loop to the back.
Herms were used as boundary markers on roads and borders. They were also placed outside houses to ward off harm or evil. In its amuletic form the herm was associated with fertility and good luck.

Roman bronze figure of Eros, He is holding a bag of some kind under his left arm and his right arm extended out and at one time had something in his hand now just a hole where the piece fit in remains , This piece has a nice dark brown patina and some mineral deposits. The surface has been worn down from years of handling . According to tradition which was made by Eratosthenes, Eros was principally the patron of male love, while Aphrodite ruled the love between men and women. Meleager records ...

A superb quality Islamic bowl, Islamic, 12th century A.D. (494 AH – 597 AH). Central Asia - Bamiyan.

Pearly white glaze with Sgraffito decoration (relief), pottery bowl with flaring body rising from a short foot. The sides decorated with a beautiful Sgraffito pattern of ovals and center and rim decorated with splashes of brown.

Condition: Choice. Almost perfectly intact and with fine grazing and inherent iridescence.

Size: 9 cm. wide and approx 4,2 cm. high.

A fine larger stamp seal with an engraved handle in cream stone marble or alabast (?), made during Hittite expansion in the Hittite style, c. 2nd. millenium BC.

The seal plate is round and depicts a kneeling human or deity struggling with a large snake, another animal behind. The handle engraved with a deep relief motif of an animal.

Size: 24 mm. in diameter and 24 mm. tall.

Condition: Good Very fine.

This is a very interesting bronze, socketed spear from ancient Greece or Persia. It has a slightly swollen midrib accented with incised lines. The socket is split at the original seam and there are some losses. The blade has what appears to be ancient battle damage, making this quite a unique piece for any collection. The overall length is roughly 18 cm and the weight is 130 grams.
