The general consensus appears to be that the pillar figurines probably represent some form of "Mother Goddess" personifying fertility, possibly the goddess Astarte of the Canaanites, sidonians, and Philistines

An ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1200 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 7/16” long (11 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup. Mitry: "Glory and devotion to the beautiful god. XIX Dynasty."

A rare, attractively patinated, small bronze figure depicting the Ancient Egyptian cat goddess, Bast. This item was made in Egypt during the Late Dynastic Period (664-332 BC). Condition: much of the surface is oxidized and is degraded in places and there is extensive malachite encrustation. 4cm (1.6 inches) high.

A very rare, finely modelled, bronze figure of the Ancient Egyptian cat goddess, Bast, with later, crudely carved, early 20th Century soft wood stand. This item was made in Egypt during the Late Dynastic Period (664-332 BC). Condition: Very good - there is oxidation loss to the left side between the fore and hind leg; no further losses and no repairs. Height (without stand): 6.6cm (2.6 inches). Height (with stand): 10.8cm (4.25 inches).

A beautiful high quality early Mesopotamian cylinder seal, Isin Larsa period, (c. 2025 BC – c. 1763 BC).

The highlight is the beautifully formed pair of delicately formed handles. The kylix remains in choice condition with only professional repair to the base and one handle and no overpaint. The bronze vessel shaped as a bird with large tail, beak and broad wings. Engraved on wings and tail with fine low relief carvings.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this detailed Egyptian bronze figure of a seated deity Horus as a child, also known as Harpocrates. Horus' side lock is presented in excellent detail with his right hand to his mouth. This bronze has an absolutely choice olive patina with very little wear. Professional repairs have been made just above the ankles, which does not detract from the piece. The seated bronze measures 4.75" in height, plus the size of the base...

Holy Land - Byzantine Period; 5th Century AD

Inscribed terra-cotta oil lamp, “The light of Christ shines for all” reads the inscription on this Byzantine oil lamp found throughout Palestine, but especially in Jerusalem.

The Greek inscription, Jodi Magness suggests, indicates the lamps were lit during the Ceremony of the Holy Fire in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in Jerusalem and that’s what make the oil lamp more rare and special
