Large Afghan ceramic charger, of hollow form, decorated with splashed green and brown lines crossing on a light beige background. This is an antique earthenware terracotta bowl from the Islamic Medieval era 11th - 13th century AD (391 AH – 700 AH) that originated from the Khwarezmian Empire of Central Asia, specifically from Bamiyan. The bowl has a flaring body that rises from a short foot. The surface of the walls is cream-colored with an incised zigzag motif that is divided by vertical green lines radiating from the center...
Embossed pendant decorated with two figures of deities, one male wearing a dhoti and the other, a female, entirely naked, each with an aureola, standing in front of what seems to be an altar. A loop on top allowed attachment to a necklace. The pendant is made of 18 K gold, with remnants of soil encrustations. Graeco-Buddhist art, Gandhara, 1st to 3rd century. Height: 5.5 cm. Beautifully carved relief fragment representing the head of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, wearing a diadem on which appears a small Buddha Amithaba in meditation sitting on a lotus throne and surrounded by foliage.
