Rare Chinese form, this Chinese chalice is from the late Qing Dynasty period. The dome shaped lid is topped with a gold finial. The surface of the piece is covered with cloisonne pattern. Chinese cloisonné and bronze figure of a standing cockerel. Flourishes of elaborate plumage are decorated with scrolling vines and tiny circles of colorful enamel on a turquoise blue ground. The feet of the rooster are connected to the lid of an oval shaped box which is decorated to match the cloisonné on the body of the rooster.

One small area of restoration to the white on the back of the rim. Otherwise in good condition bar the odd usual stress crack.
