Tsakli are miniature paintings which are used in various Buddhist rituals.
Provenance; this Tsakli was included in the exhibition 'Art of Buriatia, Buddhist Icons from Southern Siberia' held at Spink in December 1996, No 32.
Buriatia lies predominately to the east of Lake Baikal in Southern Siberia and above Mongolia.

Rare 17th Century Tibetan Chakrasamvara Thangka with numerous inscriptions on the back. There is a tape repair on the center of the back. 26 x 19.5 inches, 66 x 50 cm.
This small hand painted picture on cloth, called a Tsakli was used for Buddhist religious instruction and rituals in Tibet. The back of the card has Tibetan writing...Obvious condition issues...This card and others listed on this site were all antique cards when they were brought out of Tibet in the 60's...card is 3 x 3.5 inches

Antique Sri Lankan ceramic figure of seated Hanuman, the Hindu god in monkey form, hero of the Ramayana and devoted friend to Rama. Seated with one knee raised and hands together in prayer, Hanuman's face is full of compassion. His tall crown denotes his status. Traces of green and white pigments remain.

Small wool carpet with lotus design. Large central lotus is dark blue on pink hued ground. It is surrounded by blue and pink blooms. It measures 27" by 24". Made of wool. Overall good condition.
This is a large and early Buddhist applique textile, dating to no later than the mid-19th century. The design consists of a double-dorje centering a "yin-yang" emblem, representing the masculine and feminine principles of the universe. The piece is complete and intact with minimal wear as one would expect. It measures just over 30" in diameter. Textiles such as this one are exceedingly rare and seldom found.

It was made in the 19th.century and has been inside a Hindu temple in Himachal Pradesh for decades.

Antique Himalayan small silver Buddha Sakyamuni seated in vajrasana position on a lotus throne. His feet are folded in his lap in vajraparyankasana and his right hand reaches down in bhumispara mudra. His expression is compassionate with downcast eyes and a slight smile. The bottom of the base is covered in copper.

A Nepalese dagger used in Shamanic and Buddhist rituals, carved from wood with a glossy patina. The handle section in the shape of a vajra with endless knots and three faces, the blade trigonal. Condition: traces of usage. Dimension: 21.1 cm long.
Small bronze Indian sculpture of the elephant headed Hindu god Ganesha, known as the Remover of Obstacles, beautifully formed head and body with plumpness of arms and legs, one hand and crown missing, encrusted patina with hints of vermilion, 13th/14th century.
