Suzuribako orned with a kakemono in glod and silver lacquer, cerned by plum blossoms in gold hira maki-e lacquer, green, silver and white, on a black lacquer background.

Kobako in gold and silver lacquer taka maki-e and hira maki-e, decorated with a yanagi (weeping willow) and flowering trees adjacent to a black and gold lacquer barrier. The barrier panels are decorated with regular geometric patterns in taka maki-e gold lacquer.

This is a CHOSHI of Japanese lacquer ware. CHOSHI is a kettle for the sake which was made about 170 years ago in the late Edo period.

This is an old original item of master craftmanship. It is never imitation. It is lacquered on wood and never plastic etc. Used was only real Japanese lacquer. This incredible lacquer work is called MAKI-E.

It is finshed with metallic textured silver-black lacquer simulating old iron. The lid and base are shiny black lacquer, the interior coated in festive red. Antique Japanese lacquer raised tray. Standing on four legs with square frame and decorated all over with scrolling vines and pine bows in maki-e lacquer on a black ground with clouds of gold nashiji. Prominent in the design is the appearance of the aoi mon (crest) of the Tokugawa clan, marking this tray as the property of the ruling Tokugawa Shogunate.
